Nigerian Army promotes recruitment and security in Rivers State
The Rivers State Government and the Nigerian Army are engaging with local leaders and youth to promote military career opportunities and enhance security for national service members.
Dr. Dagogo Wokoma, Secretary to the Rivers State Government, encouraged youths to join the Nigerian Army to build impactful careers and serve the nation. This follows a mandate from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to recruit 28,000 personnel. Brigadier-General B. U. Ugbaji emphasized the importance of utilizing the state's recruitment quota and highlighted educational development opportunities within the military.
Separately, Major-General Everest Okoro, General Officer Commanding of the Army's 6 Division, pledged to strengthen security measures for National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members traveling to Rivers State for orientation exercises. Addressing concerns regarding security risks faced by corps members during travel, Okoro affirmed the division's commitment to protecting those participating in the national unity scheme.
