Nigerian athletes are achieving significant milestones on the international track and field circuit. Sprinter Tobi Amusan secured a silver medal at the World Athletics Ultimate Championships, noting the increasing competitiveness of the women’s 100m hurdles. Amusan expressed her intention to finish the 2026 season strongly before preparing for 2027.

Other Nigerian athletes have also set new benchmarks. Kanyinsola Ajayi established new national records in both the 60m indoors and the 100m outdoors, with his 9.84-second 100m run breaking a 20-year-old national record. Additionally, Samuel Ogazi broke African and Nigerian indoor records in the 400m with a time of 44.57 seconds.
