Nigerian athletes win hurdles and sprint titles in Brescia and Bellinzona

Nigerian athletes secured multiple victories at recent track and field events in Italy and Switzerland. At the Grand Prix Brescia, Tobi Amusan won the women’s 100m hurdles with a time of 12.56 seconds, overcoming a 1.7m/s headwind. She finished ahead of Alaysha Johnson of the United States and Ackera Nugent of Jamaica.

Also at Brescia, Favour Ofili claimed victory in the women’s 200m, clocking 22.03 seconds. In Bellinzona, Kayinsola Ajayi won the men’s 100m with a time of 9.91 seconds, finishing ahead of Ronnie Baker and Akani Simbine.

Amusan’s performance serves as a warm-up for the upcoming Diamond League Final in Brussels, following the recent breaking of her 100m hurdles world record by Masai Russell in Zurich.
