Nigerian Banking Shares Forecast to Lead Upcoming Market Rally
Wyoming Capital and Partners CEO Tajudeen Olayinka said that Nigerian banking stocks are expected to spearhead the next phase of the country's market rally. He highlighted banks such as Zenith Bank, GTCO, UBA and Access Holdings as undervalued stocks that could see strong price moves as investors position ahead of half‑year earnings releases and interim dividend announcements.
Olayinka noted that the recent trading week added about ₦2.53 trillion to market capitalisation on the Nigerian Exchange and saw 4.433 billion shares change hands. He suggested that momentum in banking shares could lift sentiment across other sectors, though any broader rally may be moderate.
The outlook points to a focus on companies with a history of rewarding shareholders through interim dividends, which Olayinka expects will attract the strongest investor interest in the coming weeks.
