Nigerian banks launch empowerment and scholarship programs for female students

Baobab Microfinance Bank has introduced a scholarship program designed to support 50 female students in northern Nigeria. The initiative aims to increase educational attendance for girls by sponsoring students in various schools annually. The bank specifically targeted micro-schools with low tuition fees to assist less privileged families affected by economic challenges.

In a separate initiative, Zenith Bank Plc launched its maiden Girl-Child Empowerment Programme, titled ‘Banking on Her Tomorrow’. The event provided mentorship and training to 300 schoolgirls aged 13 to 17 in Lagos. The program focused on practical skills including finance, investment, social media ethics, and personal development to help participants navigate their future educational and career paths.
