Nigerian banks secure extensions for H1 2026 financial results

Several major Nigerian banks have secured extensions from the Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX) to publish their audited half-year financial results for the period ending June 30, 2026. The delays are attributed to the requirement for regulatory clearance from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) following the sector’s recapitalisation exercise.

United Bank for Africa (UBA) has been granted an extension to publish its results on or before September 30, 2026. The bank noted that while its board approved the statements on August 13, 2026, the release is pending primary regulator approval. A closed period on transactions involving UBA securities remains in effect until 24 hours after the results are published.

Zenith Bank and Guaranty Trust Holding Company (GTCO) are also facing similar delays. Zenith Bank received a six-week extension, allowing it to publish its results by October 9, 2026, though it aims to release them sooner. GTCO has been granted an extension until September 30, 2026, pending the necessary regulatory approvals.
