President Bola Tinubu vows security overhaul, economic rebound, church support

President Bola Tinubu met with the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Nigeria, urging clergy to condemn violence, promote national unity and support the government’s effort to return mission schools to their original owners. He highlighted a restructuring of Nigeria’s security architecture, the expansion of the armed forces, the creation of four new army formations and the recruitment of 28,000 additional troops, raising the army from eight to twelve divisions.

Tinufu also declared that the economy has recovered, citing reforms such as the Nigerian Education Loan Fund and the end of prolonged Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) strikes. He linked economic recovery to improved public services and urged citizens to engage with government opportunities. The president condemned recent deadly attacks in Kaduna and Benue, promised intensified operations by the armed forces and police, and called on communities to provide intelligence to aid security efforts.
