Nigerian Bar Association investigates CCT Chairman assault and swears in new President
The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has launched an investigation into allegations that the Chairman of the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT), Danladi Yakubu Umar, and his security detail assaulted a security guard at Banex Plaza in Abuja. The victim, a 22-year-old employee of Jul Reliable Guards Services Ltd, has reportedly been hospitalized following the incident.
Separately, Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya, SAN, has been sworn in as the 33rd President of the NBA during the association's 66th Annual General Conference in Port Harcourt. She is the second woman to hold the position. Her administration aims to focus on the economic welfare of lawyers, modernization through technology, and professional discipline.
The NBA's recent activities have also drawn public scrutiny regarding its professional standards, specifically following the invitation of social media personality Martins Vincent Otse, known as VeryDarkMan, to a panel during the annual conference.
