The Nigerian Citizens Association South Africa (NICASA) has condemned the killing of Bishop Taiwo Michael Fakunle, a 58-year-old Nigerian cleric, in Johannesburg. The incident occurred on Friday, September 4, at Fakunle’s residence in the Kensington area.

Preliminary reports indicate that two suspects entered the residence and shot Fakunle more than seven times. NICASA President Rev. Frank Onyekwelu described the event as a “horrific and senseless act of violence” that has devastated the Nigerian community.

A murder case has been opened at the Jeppe Police Station, and the incident has been reported to the Consulate General of Nigeria in Johannesburg. NICASA is calling on the South African Police Service (SAPS) to conduct a thorough, professional, and transparent investigation to apprehend the perpetrators and ensure justice is served.
