Nigerian Blogger Justice Crack Released from DSS Detention

Human rights activist and blogger Justice Mark Chidiebere, known as Justice Crack, was released from the custody of Nigeria's Department of State Services (DSS). Former presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore announced the release on X, calling the detention "unjust" and "lawless" and describing the freedom as a victory for those who resist intimidation.

Chidiebere had been prosecuted by the DSS on alleged cyber‑crime charges related to a viral video about the Nigerian army. The Federal High Court in Abuja granted him bail of ₦5 million on 18 May 2026, imposing strict surety requirements, including residence proof, employment verification, and passport surrender. Sowore had previously complained that the DSS was delaying his release by withholding his international passport despite compliance with bail conditions.
