Nigerian brewers Guinness and Unilever post strong H1 2026 earnings
Guinness Nigeria Plc reported a 53.3% jump in profit after tax to N25.30 billion for the six months ended 30 June 2026, driven by an 11.8% rise in revenue to N265.04 billion and a 27.2% increase in operating profit. Gross profit grew 9.4% to N97.47 billion and finance costs fell sharply, boosting earnings per share to 1,155 kobo.
Unilever Nigeria Plc announced a 22% increase in H1 2026 revenue to N119.9 billion, with gross profit up 30% to N54.7 billion and net profit of N15.6 billion. The company declared an interim dividend of N2.00 per 50 kobo share, amounting to a total payout of N11.5 billion. Both firms highlighted resilient performance despite higher input costs and a challenging operating environment.
