Nigerian Content Development Board launches 10th Undergraduate Essay Competition

The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) announced that applications for its 10th Annual National Undergraduate Essay Competition will open on 15 August. The contest invites 100‑ and 200‑level undergraduate students from Nigerian universities, polytechnics and colleges of education to submit essays on the theme “Promoting Manufacturing for Sustainable Local Content Development.”

The competition aims to encourage young Nigerians to propose ideas that strengthen local manufacturing capacity, reduce reliance on imports in the energy sector and support broader industrialisation goals. Statements from Managing Director Eyinimi Omorozi and General Manager of Corporate Communications Dr. Obinna Ezeobi highlighted the initiative as a platform for critical thinking, research and innovation.

An award ceremony is scheduled for 22 October at the NCDMB headquarters in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, where top entries will be recognised. Over the years the essay competition has become a leading academic programme that links student research to national development and local‑content policy.
