Nigerian digital creators highlight diverse social media income streams
Nigerian social media personalities are drawing attention to the financial realities of digital content creation. A 25-year-old woman recently received ₦1 million from TikToker Peller during a livestream. The recipient addressed public scrutiny regarding her lifestyle, explaining that she funds her wig business independently and has provided financial support to her mother, who has operated a groundnut and cocoa business for over 30 years.
Separately, beauty entrepreneur Adeola Adeyemi, known as Diiadem, reported significant recurring revenue from Snapchat. She stated she is the first creator in Nigeria to be paid by the platform, claiming earnings of between $3,000 and $5,000 every two weeks through Snapchat’s creator monetization programme. These payouts, which occur regardless of weekly posting frequency, represent a direct revenue stream alongside her existing beauty brand, Beauty by AD.
