Nigerian DisCos report power outages in Lagos and Abuja

Several electricity distribution companies (DisCos) in Nigeria have reported significant power supply disruptions affecting Lagos, Abuja, and Ogun State.

Ikeja Electric, which serves large portions of Lagos, attributed reduced electricity supply hours to a shortfall in power allocation from the national grid. This follows a similar notice issued by the company on October 5. Some communities, including Ogba and FESTAC, have reportedly experienced outages lasting up to two days.

In the Federal Capital Territory, the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) cited technical faults as the cause for outages in several areas, including Kado Fish Market, Life Camp Extension, and Diamond Court Estate. The company stated its technical teams were working toward restoration.

In Ogun State, the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) linked reduced supply to load restrictions on the Ota/Papalanto/Abeokuta 132kV transmission network.
