Nigerian Exchange Group Chairman Calls for Inclusive Fintech Growth

Dr Umaru Kwairanga, chairman of the Nigerian Exchange Group (NGX), urged regulators, financial institutions and technology firms to work together to deepen financial inclusion and strengthen Nigeria's digital financial ecosystem. Speaking at a fintech roundtable in Lagos, he emphasized that inclusion must go beyond opening bank accounts and digital wallets, extending services to small businesses, women, young entrepreneurs and underserved communities to build financial resilience and access capital.

Kwairanga highlighted that trust, security and data protection are essential for consumer confidence in digital finance. He called for collective investment in digital infrastructure, cybersecurity and financial literacy to ensure technology serves as an enabler of opportunity.

He also noted NGX's own initiative, NGX Invest, which simplifies access to public offerings and provides patient capital for innovative companies at various growth stages.
