Nigerian Exchange Group issues compliance and governance directives

The Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX), the Nigerian Bar Association Section on Business Law (NBA-SBL), and the Chartered Institute of Directors Nigeria (CIoD) have called on corporate boards to enhance oversight regarding technological risks, sustainability, and long-term performance. During the 2026 Corporate Governance Triangle Annual Colloquium in Lagos, leaders emphasized the need for adaptable governance frameworks to address rapid technological shifts and artificial intelligence vulnerabilities.

NGX Chief Executive Officer Jude Chiemeka highlighted the NGX N-Zero Programme, which assists listed companies with climate-related disclosures and decarbonization strategies. Additionally, NGX Regulation Limited (NGX RegCo) is monitoring nine companies for compliance and restructuring issues. Union Dicon Salt Plc, previously on a delisting watchlist due to compliance deficiencies, has reportedly rectified its free-float requirements but must complete its business restructuring by a November 2026 deadline to avoid further regulatory action.
