Nigerian Export Promotion Council and NANS propose student export partnership
The Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC) and the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) have proposed a partnership to integrate students into the country’s non-oil export sector. The initiative aims to establish export hubs across tertiary institutions in Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones.
Under the proposed plan, students would receive training on export procedures, opportunities, and the practical requirements for moving Nigerian products and services into global markets. NANS Secretary-General Oladimeji Uthman Fodio noted that since youth account for over 60 per cent of Nigeria’s population, channeling their entrepreneurial energy into productive economic activities is essential.
NEPC Executive Director Nonye Ayeni expressed willingness to explore the partnership, highlighting that Nigerian youth are a vital component of the non-oil export ecosystem. She also noted existing NEPC interventions specifically designed for women, youth, and people living with disabilities.
