Nigerian Export Promotion Council launches export training for retirees

The Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC) has launched an initiative to equip civil servants approaching retirement with export business skills. The program aims to help retirees establish sustainable livelihoods in the non-oil export sector, reducing their sole reliance on retirement benefits.

Nonye Ayeni, the Executive Director and CEO of the NEPC, stated during a town hall meeting in Kano that the Council has requested ministries, departments, and agencies to nominate civil servants due to retire within the next three years. The training is designed to provide practical knowledge in the production, processing, packaging, certification, marketing, and international distribution of Nigerian products.

This initiative is part of a broader human-capital development and economic empowerment strategy by the NEPC to ensure Nigerians acquire practical skills for income generation beyond formal employment.
