Nigerian Governors Otti and Yahaya Announce State Reform Plans

Abia State Governor Alex Otti presented a governance scorecard in Lagos, highlighting improvements in healthcare, education, road infrastructure and social protection. He noted that more than half of the state budget is allocated to these sectors and introduced the Abia Senior Citizens Centre Law 2025, which provides legal frameworks for elderly care, cash grants and food support.

Gombe State Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya received a report from a taskforce on basic and technical education reforms. He announced the merger of the Ministry of Higher Education with the Ministry of Education and pledged to implement the committee’s recommendations to boost learning outcomes, infrastructure and teacher development across the state.
