Nigerian governors welcome 2026 NYSC corps members

Governors across several Nigerian states have addressed the 2026 Batch ‘C’ Stream I National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members during their orientation and swearing-in ceremonies.

In Anambra, Governor Chukwuma Soludo urged corps members to uphold their oath of allegiance to avoid dishonesty and compromise. In Abia, Governor Alex Otti encouraged participants to contribute to state infrastructure and healthcare efforts, noting that the government would provide enhanced state allowances.

Enugu Governor Peter Mbah emphasized the need for Nigeria to create an environment where migration, or ‘japa’, becomes a choice rather than an escape from hardship, calling for better education and job opportunities to harness the youth demographic.

In Zamfara, Governor Dauda Lawal marked the state’s 30th anniversary by commissioning infrastructure projects and urging corps members to promote national unity. Meanwhile, Kwara Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq announced a N50,000 support grant for each of the 2,740 corps members in his state to help mitigate current economic challenges.
