Nigerian Law School student dies in suspected suicide in Lagos

A 23-year-old student of the Nigerian Law School, identified as Alayande Faith Ajoke, died in a suspected suicide at the institution's hostel in Victoria Island, Lagos, on August 7, 2026.

According to the Lagos State Police Command and reports from the school's Chief Matron, the deceased allegedly jumped from the rooftop of a four-storey hostel building. The incident was discovered in the early hours of Friday after a student and a relative reportedly found suicide notes left by the deceased.

Police detectives visited the scene to document the area, and the body has been moved to the Mainland General Hospital mortuary in Yaba for an autopsy. An investigation into the circumstances of the death is ongoing.
