Nigerian lawmakers launch borehole projects to improve water access

Lawmakers in Nigeria have initiated water infrastructure projects to improve access to potable water in their respective constituencies.

In Kogi State, Hon. Zakari Yusuf Eneve of the Kogi State House of Assembly has commenced the rehabilitation of boreholes in the Okene II Constituency. The project targets the Abuga, Irayapana, and Arigo communities to address recent water shortages. The intervention includes repairing overhead storage tanks and providing submersible pumps to improve sanitation and community wellbeing.

In Lagos State, Hon. Richard Kasunmu of the Lagos State House of Assembly has donated boreholes to four communities within the Ikeja 2 Constituency: Ojodu, Yakoyo, Ipodo Street, and Anifowose. These projects, part of the ARK Community Water Initiative (ACWI), include the provision of 2.5KVA generators to ensure functionality during power outages. The initiative aims to support Sustainable Development Goals related to clean water, sanitation, and poverty eradication.
