Nigerian leaders and monarchs call for transparency and prosperity

Former Imo State Governor Emeka Ihedioha has endorsed the African Democratic Congress (ADC) ahead of the 2027 elections. During a campaign launch in Owerri, Ihedioha stated that voting for the ADC represents a vote for prosperity, promising transparent governance and grassroots transformation. He emphasized that the party's candidates align with his political philosophy of honesty and integrity, noting that the ADC aims to provide administrative autonomy to local government councils to facilitate rural infrastructure projects.

In a separate call for national reform, the Obi of Onitsha, Igwe Nnaemeka Alfred Achebe, outlined expectations for Nigeria’s next president. He urged incoming leadership to prioritize honesty, transparency, and a decisive fight against corruption. Achebe stressed the need for an economy that allows ordinary citizens to meet their basic needs and live without constant economic hardship, advocating for policies that foster a happier and more stable society.
