Nigerian leaders call for increased female mentorship and leadership

Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has urged successful women in business, public service, and various professions to mentor the next generation. Speaking at the 26th Annual National Women’s Conference organized by the Committee of Wives of Lagos State Officials (COWLSO), Sanwo-Olu emphasized the responsibility of established women to expand access to opportunities and dismantle barriers for younger women.

Similarly, the women’s wing of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) has advocated for greater female participation in decision-making and university leadership. During the SSANU 2026 National Women Conference, National Women Coordinator Ijeoma Kalu called for solidarity and professional advancement to ensure women can contribute more effectively to institutional development and national progress.
