Nigerian leaders to headline 2026 national dialogue events
Several prominent Nigerian figures are set to headline major events in 2026 focused on national dialogue and democratic stability.
Former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan will deliver the keynote address at the third Megastar Man of the Decade Awards in Abuja on October 16. Themed ‘The Road to 2027: Citizens, Stakeholders, and the Democracy We Choose,’ the event aims to discuss democratic values and peaceful political engagement. The ceremony will also feature the Olu of Warri, His Majesty Ogiame Atuwatse III, and Olori Atuwatse III, alongside a panel including former Senate President Bukola Saraki and former Governor Olusegun Mimiko.
In Lagos, former President Olusegun Obasanjo will participate in the 10th anniversary of the Quramo Festival of Words (QFest) from October 1 to 3. Under the theme ‘Pieces of Us,’ the festival will focus on Nigeria’s civil war history and national reconciliation. Obasanjo is scheduled to lead a session titled ‘When Brothers Fight: Civil War (1967-1970) – History, Identity & Nation Building,’ drawing on his experiences to discuss pathways toward national unity.
