Nigerian Market Gains as Lafarge Africa Profit Doubles and NGX Shares Praise FY Results

Cement producer Lafarge Africa Plc posted a 101 % rise in profit after tax to ₦97.95 billion in Q1 2026, driving its market valuation up about 19 % to N5.64 trillion and pushing its share price to a 52‑week high. The earnings boost was attributed to higher sales volumes, improved plant stability, a strategic partnership with Huaxin Building Materials, and tighter cost control.

At the Nigerian Exchange Group’s 65th AGM in Lagos, shareholders commended the board’s performance, approved FY 2025 audited accounts, and endorsed a final dividend of N2.00 per share together with a one‑for‑three bonus issue. Executives highlighted disciplined execution, infrastructure upgrades and plans to deepen market participation, signalling confidence in the nation’s capital‑market outlook.
