Nigerian Mathematician Damilare Samuel Pushes Advanced Blood‑Flow Models for Heart Disease
U.S.-based Nigerian mathematician Damilare Samuel, who holds a master’s degree in applied mathematics from Case Western Reserve University, is urging wider adoption of advanced, non‑Newtonian fluid models of blood flow. He argues that conventional models treat blood like water and miss critical dynamics in diseased arteries.
Samuel’s research incorporates magnetohydrodynamics, Joule heating, thermal radiation and chemically reactive transport into differential‑equation systems to better predict wall shear stress, plaque formation and aneurysm rupture. He says the approach could improve diagnostic tools, guide treatment strategies and enable targeted drug delivery for conditions such as atherosclerosis and aneurysms, which affect millions worldwide and cause thousands of deaths each year.
