Nigerian mother Safiya Musa rebuilds life with sewing after bandit raid
In 2023 armed bandits raided the town of Kankara in Nigeria's Katsina State, killing about 20 people. Safiya Musa lost her husband and two of her children in the attack. She first fled to her hometown of Batsari and later moved with her three surviving children to an internally displaced persons (IDP) camp in Jibia.
In the camp, Musa uses a sewing machine to earn an income and provide for her children.
