Nigerian Naira holds around ₦1,380 per dollar in official and black markets

The Central Bank of Nigeria’s official foreign‑exchange window quoted the naira at about ₦1,380.17 to the U.S. dollar on July 1, 2026, reflecting continued stability in the benchmark market. In the parallel (black) market, rates were slightly higher, trading near ₦1,390 for buying and ₦1,400‑₦1,405 for selling, narrowing the premium over the official rate.

Market observers attribute the tighter spread to recent CBN measures aimed at improving liquidity, as well as increased dollar inflows from remittances and exports. Traders on platforms such as Aboki Forex reported modest strengthening and reduced volatility compared to earlier weeks, though demand from importers and travelers still supports activity in the informal market. Analysts caution that rates can shift quickly on news of policy changes or global oil price movements, and suggest monitoring real‑time updates for large transactions.
