Nigerian naira maintains stability against US dollar

The Nigerian naira showed marginal movement against the US dollar at the start of trading on September 15, 2026. In the official Nigerian Foreign Exchange Market (NFEM), the currency was quoted at approximately ₦1,326.30 per dollar, reflecting a slight gain compared to previous sessions.

In the parallel market, the naira experienced different dynamics. While some trackers placed the rate at approximately ₦1,390, other indicators showed the dollar trading between ₦1,385 and ₦1,410 on the selling side. This represents a premium of roughly ₦83.70 over the official NFEM rate.

Nigeria's external reserves were reported to have reached $54.49 billion as of September 11, 2026. The gap between the official and parallel market rates continues to be driven by variations in dollar supply, demand, and accessibility across the two market segments.
