Nigerian national charged with murder in Rhode Island stabbing

Chukwunonso Uzoma David Uzoma Eze, a Nigerian national, has been charged with murder following the stabbing death of 19-year-old UMass Dartmouth football player Marvins Antoine. The incident occurred during an altercation outside the Mezzo Lounge in Providence, Rhode Island. A second player, Kensley Macean, also sustained stab wounds to his head and neck during the encounter.

Federal law enforcement sources report that Eze entered the United States on a B-2 tourist visa in 2015. After receiving two extensions during the Obama administration, he overstayed his authorized stay. Eze subsequently received deferred action—a discretionary decision by the federal government to temporarily delay removal—under both the Biden and Trump administrations. His most recent request for deferred action was approved on October 8, 2025.

According to the Department of Homeland Security, Eze has an application for employment authorization pending from February 2025. Officials noted that a murder conviction would result in the termination of his deferred action status.
