Nigerian Navy seeks defense partnership with Türkiye

Vice Admiral Idi Abbas, the Chief of the Naval Staff, has reaffirmed the Nigerian Navy’s commitment to strengthening strategic defense-industrial partnerships to enhance indigenous shipbuilding and modernize the national fleet.

During a meeting with Türkiye’s Deputy Secretary of Defence Industries, Gökhan Uçar, in Abuja, discussions focused on expanding defense-industrial cooperation between the two nations. Key areas of interest include naval shipbuilding, defense technology, technology transfer, local production, and capacity development.

Vice Admiral Abbas emphasized the necessity of collaborations that promote localization, skills development, and maintenance capabilities to build a self-reliant and technologically capable naval force.
