Nigerian police arrest drug suspects in Oyo and Akwa Ibom

Police commands in Nigeria have conducted separate operations resulting in the arrest of suspected drug dealers in Oyo and Akwa Ibom states.

In Ibadan, the Oyo State Police Command arrested a 28-year-old suspect, identified as Rilwan ‘M’, in the Apata area. Following targeted surveillance by the Iyaganku Area Command, officers recovered quantities of dry leaves suspected to be Indian hemp and a white crystalline substance suspected to be methamphetamine. The suspect is currently in custody pending further investigation and court charges.

In Akwa Ibom State, operatives raided a suspected criminal hideout in Idu Uruan Village. The operation led to the arrest of two individuals, Fortune Effiong and Comfort Effiong. Police recovered substantial quantities of substances suspected to be Indian hemp and Cannabis sativa. The Akwa Ibom State Police Command stated the operation was aimed at preventing the state from becoming a haven for criminal networks and illicit drug distribution.
