Nigerian Police Arrest Suspects After Shootings and Armed Robbery in Osun and Ondo

In Osun State, the police command in Osogbo arrested a man suspected of belonging to a faction of the National Union of Road Transport Workers after he allegedly opened fire on three members of the Anti‑Robbery and Violent Crime Response Unit, injuring them. The shooting occurred around 5:30 p.m. on Monday in the Oke‑Ijetu area; the suspect was captured at the scene and is assisting investigators. Police also detained a motorcycle thief and two alleged political thugs in the same locality.

In Ondo State, police arrested three men identified as members of an interstate armed‑robbery syndicate responsible for attacks in Ondo and Lagos states. The suspects were seized during an intelligence‑led operation while traveling in a Mercedes‑Benz SUV. Officers recovered an AK‑47 rifle, a Beretta pistol, ammunition, an axe and an iron cutter, and the men confessed to the crimes, providing leads for further arrests.
