Nigerian police intensify patrols to combat crime and prepare for elections
Police commanders in Nigeria are intensifying security measures to combat violent crime and prepare for upcoming political events. In the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Commissioner of Police Ahmed Sanusi has ordered Area Commanders and Divisional Police Officers to increase patrols, surveillance, and raids on criminal hotspots. This directive aims to prevent armed robbery, kidnapping, and car theft ahead of the 2027 general elections and end-of-year celebrations.
In Kaduna State, Commissioner of Police Muhammad Rabiu conducted patrols through the Igabi Local Government Area, including Rido Village and Maraban Rido, to assess security and strengthen community relations. During the exercise, Rabiu engaged with traditional rulers and residents to solicit cooperation in tackling kidnapping. The command emphasized that timely intelligence from community members is essential for swift police responses and crime prevention.
