Nigerian police report child rescue and missing person cases

Police in Nigeria have reported two separate incidents involving missing children in Anambra and Adamawa states.

In Anambra, the State Police Command is seeking public assistance to identify the family of a four-year-old boy named Ifedimma Emmanuel. The child was discovered wandering along Anatanaba Road in Okpoko on September 18, 2026, by a joint security patrol. He was unable to provide details regarding his home or guardians and is currently in police custody while efforts to locate his relatives continue.

In Adamawa, the State Police Command successfully rescued 12-year-old Mercy Kefas and arrested a 20-year-old woman, Jamila Yusuf, suspected of abduction. The girl had been reported missing in the Guyuk Local Government Area. Following a coordinated search, police apprehended the suspect near the Talasse border area. The child has since been reunited with her family, and the State Criminal Investigation Department has taken over the case for further investigation.
