Nigerian police seize weapons, arrest dozens in Osun and Katsina operations
In Osun State, the police arrested three suspected cult members after a routine stop-and-search revealed two Beretta pistols, an axe, cutlasses, and charms. The suspects, identified as Adekola Olayinka Abdulazeez, Omolara Ezekiel and Babatunde Azeez, were linked to a confraternity and are being investigated for potential political thuggery ahead of the August governorship election.
In Katsina State, police announced the arrest of 225 suspects involved in kidnapping, banditry, cattle rustling, arms trafficking and other crimes. Among those detained were seven alleged kidnappers, ten armed robber suspects, and dozens of drug traffickers. The operation also rescued 17 kidnapping victims and recovered firearms, laptops, livestock, drugs and other contraband. Authorities said the coordinated effort reflects intensified intelligence‑led operations across the state.
