Nigerian political leaders discuss youth empowerment and legacy

Lagos State Deputy Governor and APC gubernatorial aspirant, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, recently reflected on a formative meeting with the late Chief Obafemi Awolowo. Hamzat recounted how, at age 14, Awolowo advised him that nations rise when people of honor and integrity choose to serve, a principle he says guides his current political aspirations for infrastructure and youth empowerment in Lagos.

In Abia State, Governor Alex Otti is implementing a “leaders of today” philosophy through various digital empowerment initiatives. Key programs include the ThriveAbia Digital Capacity Development Programme, which has expanded to train 1,000 youths following a successful pilot, and the Abia TechRise ICT Skills Development Programme. The latter has trained approximately 2,210 beneficiaries in fields such as software development, data engineering, artificial intelligence, and animation to drive the state's economy.
