Nigerian political leaders urge focus on policy over personal attacks

Nigerian political leaders are emphasizing the importance of policy-driven discourse as the campaign season begins. Senator Ali Ndume of the All Progressives Congress has urged opposition parties to focus on national interest issues and clear policy alternatives rather than questioning the academic credentials of President Bola Tinubu.

Ndume argued that focusing on the President's background is a waste of time that could be better spent presenting viable alternatives to the current administration's policies. Meanwhile, Abdullahi Ibrahim Ali Halims, Deputy Leader of the House of Representatives, has been highlighted for his approach to political scrutiny. Representing the Ankpa, Omala, and Olamaboro Federal Constituency, Halims has responded to critics by citing his record of performance in rural electrification, infrastructure, and healthcare, rather than attempting to silence dissent.
