Nigerian Red Cross conducts first aid training for volunteers

The Nigerian Red Cross Society has conducted several first aid training initiatives across different states to enhance community emergency response capabilities.

In Sokoto State, the Sokoto Branch, supported by the International Committee of the Red Cross, held a three-day intensive Emergency First Aid Team (EFAT) training for volunteers. The program aimed to improve operational readiness for incidents such as road traffic accidents, fires, flooding, and sudden illnesses. The training focused on emergency assessment, casualty management, and effective coordination to ensure timely referral to health facilities.

In Anambra State, the Nigerian Red Cross partnered with the Awba-Ofemili Development Union (ADU) Health Committee to train 60 volunteers, including 50 students and 10 teachers from Community Secondary School, Awba-Ofemili. This training serves as preparation for the Awba-Ofemili Health Awareness Campaign 2026 and provides participants with practical skills in basic first aid administration and the use of first aid kits.
