Nigerian security forces seize weapons, arrest criminal gangs in Enugu, Oyo and Borno

In Enugu State, security agencies captured six suspects on a watch list and recovered a cache that included 17 AK‑47 rifles, a general‑purpose machine gun, a rocket‑propelled rifle, hand‑grenades and over 1,000 rounds of ammunition. Governor Peter Mbah praised the operation and warned that any remaining criminals would be pursued.

The Oyo State Police Command conducted multiple raids in Ibadan. On June 10, four men linked to the Eiye Supremo Confraternity were arrested in Oluyole while preparing another attack, and a locally‑made pistol was seized. A separate intelligence‑led operation later captured five suspected armed robbers in the Gbeku area of Olodo, recovering a pump‑action gun, a single‑barrel firearm, eight live cartridges, a bullet‑proof vest and items believed to be criminal charms.

In the southeast, soldiers killed an ISWAP leader in Borno and disrupted a plot to kidnap West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WAEC) candidates in Enugu, Anambra and Imo states. The raid uncovered high‑calibre arms, including AK‑47 rifles, rocket‑launcher ammunition, RPG warheads and tear‑gas equipment. The operations were described as a decisive blow to bandit and terrorist activities.
