Nigerian Senate confirms NHRC and FRC appointments

The Nigerian Senate has confirmed several key appointments for the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) and the Fiscal Responsibility Commission (FRC).

For the NHRC, the Senate confirmed Huwaila Muhammad Ibrahim as a member, following a request from President Bola Tinubu. Other confirmed nominees for the commission include Salamatu Suleiman as chairman, alongside members Edmund Obiagwu, Ogunji Kingsley, Oluwakemi Asiawaju-Okenyodo, Adedeji Adekunle, Ayo Adewuyi, Mohammed Adelodun, Eze Anaba, Maupe Ogun-Yusuf, and Patience Udoh.

Regarding the FRC, the Senate confirmed Dr. Abdullahi Saidu as Chairman and six board members: Mohammed Asma’u Mai-Eka, Mohammed Makama, Suleiman Gidado, Louis Ndukwe, Amaechi Ugwele, and Olaniyi Onikola. The Senate Committee on Finance reported that the nominees underwent a screening process to ensure competence in fiscal discipline and accountability.
