Nigerian Senate probes four oil companies over audit queries

The Human and Environmental Development Agenda (HEDA) has called for transparency and public accountability regarding a Senate investigation into four oil companies: Seplat Energy, Network E&P Nigeria, All Grace Energy, and Aradel Energy.

The Senate Public Accounts Committee issued a 48-hour ultimatum to these companies to appear for hearings concerning audit queries found in the 2021, 2022, and 2023 reports of the Nigeria Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (NEITI). HEDA Chairman Olanrewaju Suraju emphasized that unresolved financial obligations in the extractive sector could impact government revenue and urged the committee to publish its findings and any established outstanding liabilities.
