Nigerian Senator calls for agency collaboration to recover NELFUND student loans

Senator Muntari Dandutse, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Tertiary Institutions and TETFund, has called for increased collaboration between government agencies to improve the recovery of loans disbursed through the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND).

Speaking in Abuja, Dandutse emphasized that inter-agency cooperation is essential to identify beneficiaries who have successfully secured employment in sectors such as banking and government establishments. He noted that the ability of these individuals to fulfill their repayment obligations is critical to the long-term sustainability of the scheme, ensuring that financially disadvantaged students can continue to access higher education.

Dandutse described NELFUND as a significant initiative of President Bola Tinubu’s administration. He added that the Senate Committee has been conducting zonal engagements to sensitize stakeholders and monitor the implementation of both NELFUND and TETFund interventions to expand educational access across the country.
