Davido urges peaceful voting in Osun State governorship election

Nigerian Afrobeats star Davido (David Adeleke) appealed to residents of Osun State to remain calm and reject violence ahead of the August 15 governorship election in which his uncle, Governor Ademola Adeleke, is seeking re‑election. Speaking at a youth mobilisation event and a press conference, he urged voters to exercise their right without fear, describing the vote as “your voice” and warning that no political ambition is worth loss of life or property. Davido also addressed Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma, referring to him as “our daddy from Imo State,” and asked him to use his influence to prevent any interference in the Osun poll. The appeal came amid heightened tension after the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission froze the state’s statutory allocation account. Davido praised Adeleke’s record, calling him one of the best governors in Osun’s history, and encouraged all candidates and supporters to respect the democratic outcome.
