Nigerian state funds implement governance and digital reforms

Nigerian state institutions are undergoing structural and operational reforms to improve accountability and efficiency.

The Nigeria Police Trust Fund (NPTF) held a strategic retreat in Abuja to strengthen governance and institutional coordination. Board Chairman Rtd. DIG Zanna M. Ibrahim emphasized the necessity of separating the Board’s oversight functions from Management’s day-to-day administrative responsibilities. The initiative aims to enhance transparency and ensure the Fund effectively supports the modernization of the Nigeria Police Force through due process and legal compliance.

Separately, the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF) has transitioned from manual to digital operations over the last two years. Managing Director Oluwaseun Faleye reported that the Fund is implementing structural reforms to address inherited issues such as top-heavy management and career stagnation. These reforms include a comprehensive staff audit, a digital transformation program, and a voluntary exit exercise intended to create a leaner, more functional organization.
