Nigerian state governments announce economic empowerment initiatives

In Delta State, the political pressure group NdokwaForward has expressed support for Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s plan to provide financial assistance to thousands of economically disadvantaged residents. The group noted that such interventions could bolster small businesses and grassroots economic development, though they emphasized the necessity of transparent implementation and effective monitoring to ensure funds reach intended beneficiaries.

In Akwa Ibom State, Governor Umo Eno has proposed an N800 million business grant aimed at non-indigenes. The Advisory Council Chairman of the Non-Indigenes Association in Akwa Ibom, Onoriode Obareki, commended the proposal, stating it promotes political inclusion and economic contribution from residents living outside the state's indigenous groups.
