Nigerian states advance youth empowerment and reformation programs
State governments in Nigeria are advancing various initiatives aimed at youth development, employment, and social stability.
In Anambra State, the government is seeking partnerships with private businesses and agencies to support its Youth Reformation Programme. Dr. Nelson Omenugha, Special Adviser to Governor Chukwuma Soludo, has engaged with stakeholders including Zobis Cables Limited and the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA). The program focuses on promoting discipline, integrity, and entrepreneurship through mentorship and leadership training to prepare young people for productive citizenship.
In Abia State, the House of Assembly has pledged support for the Federal Government’s Youth Economic Intervention and De-radicalization Programme (YEIDEP). Speaker Emmanuel Emeruwa stated that the initiative aligns with state priorities for job creation and economic growth. Coordinated by the Federal Ministry of Youth Development and the Youths Off The Street Initiative (YOTSI), the program provides training and access to capital in sectors such as agriculture and entertainment to combat unemployment and social instability.
