Nigerian states launch and track long-term development plans
Governor Umar Namadi of Jigawa State unveiled Local Government Development Plans for 2025‑2030 covering the state's 27 local government areas. He urged councils to use the documents as the primary roadmap for budgeting, project execution and service delivery, stressing that success will be measured by implementation and tangible benefits for citizens. The plans were said to incorporate extensive public consultations and align with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
In Lagos, the state government hosted a stakeholders' parley on the implementation of the Lagos State Development Plan (LSDP) 2052 and introduced a digital Tracking Dashboard. The dashboard will monitor more than 400 development projects, measure agency performance, flag delays early and support data‑driven decision‑making. Commissioner for Economic Planning and Budget Ope George emphasized that the plan's impact depends on sustained financing, integration into budgeting and robust monitoring, aiming to make Lagos a safer, more prosperous megacity over the next 30 years.
