Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs schedules national prayer

The Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) has announced a special national prayer session scheduled for Wednesday, September 30, 2026, at the Abuja National Mosque Complex. Led by the President-General and Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, the event aims to seek divine guidance, protection, and peace for Nigeria and its citizens.

Following the prayer session, the NSCIA will convene its General Assembly on Thursday, October 1, 2026, at the same venue. Described as the council’s highest decision-making organ, the assembly will include high-ranking officials such as the Shehu of Borno, various deputy president-generals, and the council’s secretary-general.

The gathering is expected to host a wide range of participants, including Muslim public office holders, governors, ministers, heads of government agencies, and representatives from the 36 State Councils for Islamic Affairs and the Federal Capital Territory. The assembly serves as a platform for consultation and reflection on issues affecting the Muslim Ummah and the nation.
